BFT Vineyards is one of the oldest and largest wine farms in the Southern Hemisphere, spanning over 1,000 hectares. Established in 1756 as Bloemendaals Fonteyn, shortly after Simon van der Stel, the Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, established the first wine farm in Constantia in 1685, Bloemfontein/BFT Vineyards remains family-owned by the Vogel Family. It specializes in rare vintage dryland bush wine, some of which are over 50 years old.
There are huge plots of wonderful vintage bush vines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Grenache Red, Merlot, Pinotage, Mouvedre, Ruby Cabernet, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc to name just a few.
